FCF’s mission is to grow the supply and business sustainability of excellent child care. First Children’s Finance, is excited to offer grants to child care businesses in Minnesota who complete the Community Conversations for Early Childhood Entrepreneurs (CCECE) Cohort in its entirety. - Applicants are expected to use grant funds for purposes outlined in goal-setting consultation with FCF staff AFTER grant award notification and the required acceptance has been returned to FCF.
- Grant funds may not be used for construction or major renovation of facilities but may be used for items meeting federal Child Care Development Fund guidelines. Examples of eligible renovation of repair include minor repairs and improvements to child care facilities, child care-related equipment and services, and costs related to meeting health, safety, licensing, and learning requirements or may be used for salary or payroll support.
Timeline
- Applications will be distributed to CCECE participants on an individual basis once all cohort training sessions and the two required consultations have been met.
- Applications are due by May 7, 2026.
- Grant review result notifications will be sent May 8, 2026. Notifications for applications that result in grant awards will have an attached Grant Agreement/ACH (bank deposit)/IRS W9 Form that requires completion by the deadline provided.
- The acceptance completion deadline is May 14, 2026 - for which Grant Agreement/ACH/W9 Forms must be completed and returned to FCF via the grant portal.
- Payments will be sent via ACH (direct deposit) unless awardee indicates that they have no bank account. When no bank account is available, a check will be issued to the mailing address on the W9. Please note that check requests take longer to process and payment will be delayed. If awarded, ward payments are expected to be distributed before June 5, 2026.
- A final report will be due by August 30, 2026. Failure to return a completed report by the deadline will result in an invoice being issued for return of grant funds.
- License will be monitored for one year, as the provision of licensed child care is required for one year following acceptance of grant terms. If business closes prior to one year, grantee will be invoiced for a return of a prorated share of grant funds.
